In what began, in 1982, with an international touring dance production, The Masterpiece, A Toymaker’s Dream, Impact Productions continues to fulfill it’s vision to “reach a sight and sound generation” through 3-D animation, children’s programming, and feature films.
The Masterpiece, A Toymaker’s Dream toured for 16 years to over 28 foreign countries, and nearly all 50 states and was seen collectively by over 3 million people.
Impact made much of small beginnings with the dance show and the Tulsa-based company moved bravely into film production, starting by creating a few commercial series’. Impact’s multiple award winning commercials for churches expanded the company to nearly 200 employees. Our relationship with these churches brought about the opportunity to create docu-dramas, Death and Beyond and Hymns, as well as the live action film, Resurrection. Impact built these experiences and launched into production on a series of children’s films, including 3-D animated, Tales from Wemmicksville, based on the best-selling author Max Lucado’s book, You Are Special and 13 episodes of Pahappahooey Island.
In 1996, Impact had the opportunity to re-visit its first stage as a company and created another stage show, Dayuma. This live-stage touring production was based on the story of missionary Jim Elliot and the Waorani people of Ecuador. It completed a very successful, sold-out, 20-city tour throughout the U.S.
In 2002 Bill Ewing, the former vice president of Columbia Tri-Star/ Sony Pictures, whose film credits include Titanic, and Spiderman 1, co-directed Impact’s first feature length film, Christmas Child. Christmas Child was produced by Tom Newman, and Penelope Foster, and featured William R. Moses (Touched by an Angel, Ally McBeal), Megan Follows (Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea), and six-time Grammy Award winning artist Steven Curtis Chapman.
In 2006 Impact Productions began working with Mat Crouch of Gener8xion Entertainment to create television programming, The Life Message Series and eventually two television series featuring Jordan Rubin, and one with David Barton of Wallbuilders, The American Heritage Series. Impact continues to create additional episodes for The Life Message Series and Jordan Rubin. Also, in 2006, Tom Newman, president of Impact Productions, along with Tom Winters, signed a deal with The Weinstein Company (formerly Miramax), to produce films for the faith and family market. The Tom’s first two films are currently in pre-production with The Weinstein Company and the Impact staff plans to work on those features along with them in the near future.
Impact Productions is a not-for-profit company, we therefore raise funds for projects through donations, investments, and clients. Impact continues to develop and produce value-based 3-D animated projects, children’s programming, television series and feature films. Our journey since 1982 has been one of excitement, vision and purpose in “reaching a sight and sound generation”.
